Japanese film director Shinichiro Watanabe, best known for his iconic classic Cowboy Bebop, helms a quirky sci-fi anime series about two aspiring female musicians living on Mars. The first part of the series (episodes 1 to 12) was released in October and the second part (episode 13 to 24) is due for release on Christmas eve.
The Witcher is a Netflix original TV series due to be released on 20 December. Based on the Witcher Book Series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, the first season comprises 8 episodes. It follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter with supernatural abilities. The show is being hailed for its visuals and action, with one reviewer saying it makes Game of Thrones fight scenes look like “two drunks fighting outside a bar”.
The familiar face of Joanne Froggatt (better known as Anna Bates on Downton Abbey) pops up in the Stan Original series The Commons. This eight part thriller deals with the topics of climate change and biotechnology and is set in the near future. Stan invested more than $20 million in the show which it describes as a “gripping character-driven relationship drama and a story about motherhood as the ultimate act of faith in humanity.”
Successful radio host, AJ Amon (played by Australian comedian Matt Okine), finds himself back in the dating pool unexpectedly when his girlfriend has an affair with his best friend. AJ finds he has a lot to learn about dating in the digital age. You can catch up on the first 6 episodes of The Other Guy on Stan in time for the new season which airs on December 13.
