A 2017 a Nielsen study showed Australian houses now own 6.6 screens. This is up on the 2016 figure of 6.4 and 6.1 in 2015. Today, the higher balance of these screens are internet connected. This creates more viewing opportunities for different purposes other than broadcast TV. The multifunctionality of contemporary TVs encourages new and varied viewing opportunities.
Despite all our connectivity capabilities, you may be surprised to know that the majority of viewing is still free to air, watched in real time or played back on the TV, in fact, 86%. On average Australians watch 2 hours and 39 minutes of broadcast TV each day. Five years ago they were watching 3 hours and 10 minutes.
Due to the connectivity of our TV screens now, the humble TV has many other complementary uses. In the last quarter of 2017 studies were done showing Australians use their TVs for something other than watching live or catch up TV shows for a staggering 34 hours and 15 minutes over a 28 day period.
So our rates of screen watching are not declining, they are just changing. With the advent of catch up TV, people often wait to watch their favourite show at a time other than the channel scheduled viewing time. This allows the viewer to fast forward through the ads. This would be skewing the “perceived” decline in time watching TV compared to 5 years ago. On top of the TV viewing air habits, we are also using our screens just under 1 hour per day doing something else other than watching free to air.
At this stage, you would be unwise to have any TV on your list that does NOT have internet capabilities. Technology changes rapidly and to get the most from you next screen investment whether it be free to air, Netflix, Stan, social media and any other streaming service you care to utilise it would be advisable to purchase a TV with up to date technology with the allowance of further iterations.
TCL has the answer. TCL has a wide range of TV starting with the 22-inch screen to a whopping 85-inch screen. Different TCL TVs have different capabilities.
An Android TV allows you to play your favourite content via connectivity. The Android platform is the nerve centre of the tv and gives you all the access to the internet so your tv can talk to all forms of social and streaming content. The hardware of the TV is interactive. You can simply speak into the microphone of the remote control and ask Google a question. This will also allow your phone or tablet to talk to your TV. You can cast movies, music or shows from another device straight onto the TV.
This stands for HIGH DEFINITION RANGE. It increases detailed imagery, enhances brightness and an unparalleled colour range. It promotes a truer to life colour image, the way we see colour in nature for example.
Enhances picture quality and colour volume. This happens by different light hitting the LED lights in LCD screens. These LEDs in most LCD screens emit a white light, in quantum dot versions, the light is blue.
The blue LED light drives the blue colours present in the picture, however, reds and yellows are created with quantum dots. The technology of quantum dots is actually very simple. They only emit one colour. When light hits the dot is very effectively emits this colour.
Quantum dots are minuscule. Their job is very specific and that job determines their colour. There are two sizes of dots on these TVs. The large dots glow red and have a diameter of about 50 atoms. The smaller dots glow green and have a diameter of about 30 atoms. How many are present is a quantum dot tv you ask? Billions!
Gives precision lighting control and brightness enhancement providing the best contrast ratio. This is important because with modern LEDs the LED light shines through the LCD screen to give pixels their colours. Every now and again the light shines through very small spaces where it shouldn’t, this creates a halo around the darker areas of the screen. Local dimming switches off individual clusters of pixels to maintain the integrity of the black colour and the brightness of the white.
Provides picture quality with richer and more natural colours expanding the colour spectrum. In short, your blues are bluer, greens are greener, etc. It allows the tv to display more colours. A wide colour gamut begins by making the palette deeper. It then enhances the secondary colours such as the cyans, magentas, yellows, etc. This colour explosion was too deep for HDTV but with HDR the colour experience is second to none. The next thing Wide Colour Gamut provides is a wide bit depth. This is an increase in the steps a colour can take. When you have more shades of the one colour, the colour itself is intensified. An HDTV has a capacity to emit 16.7 million colours. An HDR TV has the capability to emit over 1 billion.
TCL partnered with one of the world’s leading audio providers to bring you an unparalleled sound with a premium built-in design. They have an exceptional reputation in entertainment systems for their quality and ingenuity. Their legacy dates back the 1970s. Harmon Kardon was the market leader in bringing high current capacitors that could hold a charge which allowed a unit to push out sudden heavy base notes delivering the best quality base to the speakers without blowing them up, which is what would happen in a lesser quality brand.
The Dolby Atmos system delivers a realistic and immersive sound experience that directs audio all around you, bringing the life of the theatre into your home. It is a 3-dimensional system that makes you feel as though the audio is moving through and around you, giving the feeling that you are right in the middle of the action. In the past, there have been superior sound encounters but Dolby Atmos takes it to the next level. Imagine the vision of a helicopter in a movie swooping in the overhead of the camera. You will now not only see in that way but here is that way – overhead.
Featuring the edgeless and one-piece unibody, your viewing experience will truly be enhanced by this design technology. All this in one TV? Check it out: Click here
