We understand how hard social distancing can be and how much we all want to see our family and friends!

Although restrictions are beginning to ease, we still need to stay connected online until things get back to some form of normality.

TCL have your back as always as we have complied a list of some of the best apps to use to keep in touch with your besties or even your entire family!

Zoom Meetings

Zoom Meetings is a platform that allows employees of a company to have online video confrences while working remotely. The software is capable of displaying HD video as well as crystal clear audio to up to 100 participants per session. Participants can join in from anywhere in the world so long as they have a desktop or mobile device and a stable internet connection.

Cameras can be turned off depending on the individuals needs and their microphone can be muted to block out any background noise when someone is speaking.

Zoom Meetings offer loads of other useful features such as:

● Record meeting

● Screen sharing

● Chat

● Virtual hand-raising

● Polls

● Mute participants

  •

Although directed towards companies, Zoom Meetings is great for getting the family together for a group catch up and with simple functionality anyone (even your grandparents!) can easily use it.

House Party

Popular with the younger generation, Houseparty is a synchronous social platform that lets you connect face-to-face with the people you care about most and is free to download.

The app will then request to access your contact lists, either on your mobile, Facebook or Snapchat and will automatically link with friends within those lists that have Houseparty accounts to make connecting with your friends and family easier.

Netflix Party

A free browser extension for Google Chrome, Netflix Party allows its users to play and pause any movie or TV show Netflix has to offer while simultaneously watching them with your family and friends!

The extension also includes a side chat bar where you and your friends can discuss what’s going on in the movie, just like if you were sitting together on the couch.

JQBX

JQBX lets you play & listen to music in sync with friends or public groups. Free to use, it fully integrates with your spotify account, allowing you to become the DJ or just kick back and let someone else take over the track list.

With in-group chat options share your musical wisdom or learn some facts about the track from other listeners.

It also includes a feature that gives listeners the power to vote on the current track. Cheer for the songs that you love and boo the ones that aren’t up to scratch.

Discord

Usually the choice of communication for gamers, Discord is a chat app that provides players with a means of finding potential teammates, coordinating gameplay and speaking to each other while gaming.

Discord supports video calls, voice chat and text, allowing users to get in touch however they please.

So not only is it great to use to talk to your friends while playing games, but it’s also useful for many different activities such as study sessions, local and global community groups or just hanging out.
