Melbourne comes alive in Spring to showcase one of its best international events, the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. There is something for everyone. Fashion, fine food, champagne, international guests and exuberant colours all over the course giving the week a feel of luxury and opulence. You may even see some horse racing. Viewing this spectacular event is a must for those both on and off the track.
Coming up to our 14th consecutive year as a partner of the Melbourne Cup Carnival with the Victorian Racing Committee, TCL is the official television supplier of the carnival. With up to 500 High and Ultra High Definition TVs in and around Flemington racecourse, from the Birdcage to public bars, we want to ensure no-one misses a moment of all the action.
To support our loyal customers this year we have a promotion running from 1st September to 31st October. When you purchase a selected TCL UHD TV, you will receive a $150 cash back. For details, check it out on our website for promotions (please note promotions on this page are no longer available, see our promotions page for current events)
If that fantastic promo wasn’t enough there is also a Money Can’t Buy Experience for two lucky people to attend Oaks Day. It includes 2 Melbourne Cup Kennedy Oaks Day tickets, two economy airfares to Melbourne, food and drinks provided on the day, transfer to and from Flemington Racecourse, accommodation for 2 nights, the chance to attend the TCL TV steaks trophy presentation.
Regarded as one of the most prestigious days on the Melbourne Spring racing calendar the colour theme for the day is traditionally black and white. The outfit often chosen by men is a grey morning suit with a top hat. As for the racing, the day features 9 group races, with 4 at the Group 1 level. The feature on the card is the AAMI Victoria Derby. It boasts a purse of 2 million dollars for the winner and is Australia’s premier staying race for 3-year-olds.
Always held on the first Tuesday in November, this is the jewel in the sporting crown of Melbourne and is literally the race that stops the nation. The prize pool is worth 7.3 million dollars but more than that it is the prestige of winning such a coveted event. Fashion-wise, it is the day to go to town, to make a statement and glam it up as much as possible.
This day on the calendar is all about sophistication, style, grace and femininity. Today is the day that the Myer Fashions on the Field winner is crowned. A big day for the ladies who have meticulously planned their outfits for the week months beforehand. Millinery is the winner on the day. The Group 1 Kennedy Oaks 1 Million dollars prize pool is also a highlight for owners and trainers who are looking to put their 3-year-old fillies to the test in a stayer’s race.
The final day of race week is fast becoming one of the more popular days thanks to its more laid back and relaxed style. The very formal part of race week has ended and the VRC make this event much more family friendly. Still continuing with fashions and entertainment, this day also maintains the high standard of racing seen throughout the rest of the week. The 2-million-dollar Group 1 LKS MacKinnon Stakes is still the benchmark amongst weight for age middle-distance horses.
However, if you can’t wait for the first week in November you can always head the Caulfield Cup held at Caulfield racecourse. This race is held on Saturday 20th October. Or the Cox Plate held on 27th October at Moonee Valley racing club.
Whether it is watching the crowd arrive, Fashions on the Field, the marquee events, the frenzy of the betting ring or watching the horses fly down the straight, the best way to see all the action of the Melbourne Spring Racing carnival will be on a TCL TV. The bigger the screen, the better.
TCL Electronics Australia, a global leader in consumer electronics, has reaffirmed its commitment to Australian sport through sponsoring the 2018 Melbourne Cup, as well as the Melbourne Victory Football Club’s 2018/19 season.
The sponsorships mark a new era for TCL, which is celebrating its 14th anniversary as a sponsor of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, and 3rd anniversary as a sponsor of the Melbourne Victory FC’s Hyundai A-League season.
TCL prides itself on its commitment to providing high-quality live-sport viewing experiences for customers across the globe. The sponsorship of Melbourne Cup and Melbourne Victory FC follows global efforts to support the sporting industry, with the company recently announcing a landmark partnership with Neymar Jr, a Brazilian football superstar.
“We are proud to continue our partnerships with the Melbourne Cup and Melbourne Victory FC this year. Sport is such an integral part of Australian culture and we are honoured to bring our customers the ultimate home entertainment experience through our products,” said TCL Australia’s General Manager, Mark Zhang.
As part of its Melbourne Cup sponsorship, TCL will be the official title sponsor of the TCL TV Stakes race taking place on Oaks Day, traditionally known as ‘Ladies Day’. In addition to this, TCL will be supplying all televisions for the Victorian Racing Club (VRC), through its large permanent viewing structure at Flemington racecourse, giving racegoers a clear trackside experience from all areas of the venue.
“The Melbourne Cup continues to be the ‘race that stops the nation’. With the whole country captivated, we are pleased to have TCL on board again this year to provide an immersive experience for our viewers, whether that be on the track or on the edge of their seats at home,” said Zhang.
The Melbourne Victory FC has the highest attendance numbers in the A-League, with the team winning four Championships, three Premierships and one Westfield FFA Cup. With the support of TCL and their long-standing fans, the Melbourne Victory FC hopes for another successful season.
A leader in its field, TCL specialises in technology, design and innovation, continuing to produce top-of-the-range televisions, including their newest 8K QLED TV, which will allow fans to replicate a true sporting atmosphere at home. This experience will be making its way to Australian sporting fans in 2019, promising a viewing experience like no other.
