TCL Multimedia, one of the largest television manufacturers in the world, appoints Alain Pakiry as General Manager Europe.

Alain Pakiry, new General Manager Europe of TCL Multimedia

The nomination of Alain Pakiry as General Manager Europe of TCL Multimedia, in addition to his current position of General Manager Europe at TCL Communication, marks the start of a new development phase for TCL.

"It is an honor to take on the leadership of TCL in Europe at this turning point in its development," says Alain Pakiry. "In 2015, TCL entered the prestigious BrandZ™ Top 100 Most Valuable Chinese Brands in the world and I am proud to have been chosen to be the voice of the company in Europe. TCL is a major player in the global consumer electronics market and our devices are used on a daily basis by consumers across the world. We feel it’s important for our customers to know who is behind the products they own.”

While the company’s products and solutions are very often in European consumers ‘hands, very few indeed realize who is behind the devices they hold.

A famous ODM, TCL manufactures products for renowned brands such as Vodafone, Orange or Kurio. In the multimedia sector, TCL’s brand portfolio extends beyond the TCL brand to include well-known European-heritage brands such as Thomson Televisions*. In addition, the company also markets under ALCATEL ONETOUCH for mobile phones, smart phones, smart devices and wearables, selling no less than 15 million of products in Europe in 2014.

The appointment of Alain Pakiry is an opportunity to increase the visibility of TCL as a group and pay a tribute to its success and expertise at a time when the growing sophistication of European consumers requires both products of impeccable quality and a strong brand awareness.

TCL, a world leader in TV, mobile, smartphones and tablets

In 2014, the TCL Corporation achieved a turnover of RMB 101 billion and sold over 16,5 million LCD televisions and 73,5 million units of handsets and accessories  worldwide. In 2015, the company came in 3rd in the world rank of the LCD TV market and 5th in the world in the mobile phone market. It is now part of the 10 largest tablet manufacturers.

In 2015, TCL brand value reached 71 billion RMB and ranked No. 7 in China brands Top 100 list.

The strengths of the company are its capacity for innovation, its vertical integration strategy and the competitiveness of its product and solution offering. TCL is the Chinese company that files the most patents each year to offer increasingly innovative products to meet current demand and anticipating future market needs.

To make innovation accessible to consumers, TCL can rely on advanced industrial capabilities. For example, the company has invested nearly 5 billion dollars in a generation 8.5 panel factory in Shenzhen (CSOT) in 2011 and doubled its production capacity thanks to a second 8.5 panel factory in 2015. With this investment, TCL proves once again its ambition of remaining a global leader in terms of display technologies.
