[Hong Kong, September 4, 2018] TCL, top three global television brand and leading consumer electronics company, has been honored by International Data Group (IDG) and German Industry & Commerce Co., Ltd (GIC/AHK) with the “Display Technology Gold Award” for its flagship QLED TV X8 at the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) 2018.
The Gold Award is part of the annual IFA Product Technical Innovation Award 2018 that recognizes global consumer electronics brands at IFA.

The QLED TV X8 is TCL’s latest 4K QLED TV, featuring Quantum Dot display technology and a wide color gamut of 157% BT.709. It supports Dolby Vision HDR imaging technology that delivers stunning picture quality. The X8 is also equipped with an industry-leading sound system, featuring technology from Onkyo and Dolby Atmos, and an integrated AI soundbar that allows users to easily find content via voice control.
The X8 has a minimalist design, with its thinnest part measuring just 7.9mm. The adoption of full-screen design offers a wider viewing angle and the soundbar embedded in the base provides a better sound experience for users.
In addition, the TCL UHD Smart TV Cityline Series C76 (55DC760 Model), the European version of the C6, recently won the “Best Buy LCD TV 2018-2019” award from EISA and was launched in Europe in August.
These achievements come after a strong first-half of global business performance in 2018 for TCL, in which the company hit a record, five-year high. In 1H 2018, TCL’s overall LCD TV sales volumes reached 13,173,307 sets, an increase of 37.2% year-on-year. In overseas markets, TCL’s LCD TV sales volumes rose by 44.4% year-on-year to 8,284,671 sets. Recently, TCL announced its entry into the UK market.
At IFA 2018, TCL unveiled its new AI TV offerings, including TCL’s first 8K TV, TCL 8K QLED TV – FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Edition, TCL QLED TV X8, UHD Smart TV Cityline Series C7 and its new premium product line Living Window, underpinning its commitment to making people’s lives more intelligent.
