Shenzhen, November 15, 2018 – TCL-owned Shenzhen China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd (CSOT), a world-leading panel supplier, announced that its first, 11th generation ("G11") panel production line, known as t6, has commenced production.
“We are extremely excited to see the t6 project successfully begin production,” said Tomson Li, Chairman and CEO of TCL Corporation. “This achievement signifies a critical milestone in TCL's supply chain integration efforts, underpinning our commitment to offering consumers the ultimate product experience via our upgraded industry capabilities.”
t6, currently the world's highest generation panel production line with an investment of USD 6.7 billion (RMB 46.5 billion), has a design capacity of 90,000 sheets of substrate glass per month, and will be dedicated to producing bigger screens, such as the 65-inch and 75-inch LCD screens, for TCL.
t6 started construction in November 2016 and is expected to commence mass production in March 2019.
The company also announced that construction has started on t7, TCL's second G11 panel production line, also in Shenzhen. With a joint investment of US$6.15 billion (RMB 42.68 billion) by TCL Corporation, CSOT and the Shenzhen Major Industrial Development Fund, the t7 project was announced in May this year and is also expected to help greatly improve TCL's capabilities in the manufacture of bigger screens.
