Shenzhen, August 1, 2019 – TCL, one of the leading players in the global TV industry and a leading consumer electronics company, today launched a global marketing campaign with the theme “Born a Legend” to encourage consumers and employees to create User-generated Content (UGC) to demonstrate what makes them a ‘legend’ in everyday life.
The campaign is part of TCL’s strategy of engaging and inspiring global audiences across digital channels. This follows the company’s partnership with ESPN - leaders in sports storytelling and creative sports content – with whom it created the “Born a Legend” video series that features six rising sports stars from six different countries. Now, by encouraging global consumers and employees to follow suit, TCL hopes the campaign will inspire everyone to fight for their dreams, go beyond boundaries, and grow into the legend they were born to be.
Employees and consumers are encouraged to create and upload their own short videos to their own social media pages or the TCL website with the “TCL” and “BornALegend” hashtags between August 1st and September 29th. TCL will select the best videos and put them forward to a further stage where fans from around the world will be able to vote for their favorite videos. The three videos with the most votes will be announced as the overall winners on September 30th and the top winning submission will be rewarded with a legendary prize of USD10,000.
“I am thrilled to be kicking-off our global campaign and I hope our passionate consumers and employees will join the fun and participate,” said Eileen Sun, Chief Marketing Officer, Overseas Business Group of TCL Smart Device Group. “At TCL, we always strive to inspire everyone to be true to their dreams, keep pushing themselves, and be their own legends. I believe this spirit will help people throughout their lives and in whatever they do.”
Earlier this year, TCL partnered with ESPN on a branded video series featuring six athletes who overcame their initial struggles and are role models for everyone today. The first four videos, which have already been published, feature the stories of Defia Rosmaniar, an Indonesian taekwondo athlete who won the country’s first gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games; Kuldeep Yadav, a struggling cricketer in his adolescence who in now a celebrated player and a member of the Indian national cricket team; Melanie Leupolz, a German football player who was told ‘girls can’t play football’ but who now plays for the German national team; and Alexa Moreno, the first Mexican female gymnast to win a medal at a world-level championship when she won a bronze medal on vault at the world gymnastics championships in Doha in 2018. The remaining videos, that will feature Russian and Japanese sports stars, will be released soon.
